[SPOTVNEWS=Reporter Jo Young-joon] Actor Im Si-wan has been appointed as an ambassador for the 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships to be held next year.
The 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships Organizing Committee (co-chairman Park Hyung-joon, Busan Metropolitan City Mayor, Yoo Seung-min member of the IOC, hereinafter the Organizing Committee) held an appointment ceremony at SeAH Tower in Mapo-gu, Seoul on the 6th and delivered a letter of appointment as a public relations ambassador.
The 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships is the most prestigious international table tennis tournament with 16 tickets for the Paris Olympics team event held in the same year. About 2,000 players and officials from about 40 countries around the world will participate.
Busan originally hosted the 2020 World Championship. However, the event was canceled in the aftermath of the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) at the time.
The event, which has been successfully re-hosted, will be held at BEXCO in Busan for ten days from February 16 to 25, 2024. The year 2024 is the time to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the introduction of table tennis in Korea, so the meaning is deeper.
One year before the event, the organizing committee appointed famous actor Im Si-wan as a public relations ambassador. As one of the main faces of the tournament, Im Si-wan will take the lead in promoting the 2024 Busan World Table Tennis Championships for about a year.
PR Ambassador Im Si-wan said, “Table tennis has been a very familiar game since I was young. I'm not good at it, but I liked it, so I remember playing table tennis when I was in school. That's why I'm happy to be appointed as an ambassador for the biggest table tennis event."
