The Korea Football Association (KFA) announced a large-scale amnesty measure.

The Korea Football Association held a board meeting in the conference room of the Seoul World Cup Stadium on the afternoon of the 28th and decided to pardon 100 soccer players who are being disciplined. Those subject to pardon are former and current players, coaches, referees, and group executives who are being disciplined for various misconduct. Among those targeted are 48 players who were expelled in 2011 for match-fixing in professional football. It is the first time in 14 years since 2009 that the association has carried out an amnesty.

The Korea Football Association said, “We congratulated ourselves on advancing to the World Cup 10 times in a row and advancing to the round of 16 in the World Cup in Qatar, which we achieved last year, and reflected the opinions of the field that proposed an amnesty for harmony and a new start in the soccer world. There is also the purpose of giving another chance to soccer players who are judged to have self-reflection and self-reflection for a long time.”

In addition, the Korea Football Association said, “A person who has been expelled to prevent voluntary pardon is subject to 7 years from the date of disciplinary effect, 5 years from the date of disciplinary effect in the case of indefinite suspension of qualifications or indefinite suspension of participation, and suspension of qualifications or participation for a limited period of time. Those who have passed more than half of the period of disciplinary action are subject to pardon review. People involved in sexual violence or sexual harassment were excluded, and even in the case of match-fixing, people with a high degree of displeasure were excluded from the pardon.” He continued, “We are closely watching to ensure that this pardon is not misunderstood as a change in the association’s basic position on match-fixing. We will thoroughly prevent and supervise the incident so that it does not recur in all domestic games.”
